M.R. Pittman was the prime contractor charged with constructing a new three-story plant control building (Plant “D”); relocating utilities, electrical systems and controls from existing plant operations (Plants “A” and “B”) to the new building; and starting up the new facility with no disruption to water production or delivery to local residents and businesses. The scope was comprehensive and involved the relocation of numerous and varied water, sewerage and drainage lines; tie-ins to the existing plant facilities that had to be closely coordinated with the plant to minimize impact to operations; equipment installation including the addition of two each 3MGD (Million Gallons Per Day) clarifier / filter bank units with associated equipment; a 2-ton crane and chain hoist system; extensive electrical wiring and instrument installation; and commercial construction (including a kitchen, offices, restrooms, and showers).
